Bishop Violet Fisher
Bishop Violet Fisher is the bishop for the North Central and Western New York Annual Conferences.
Each day, Bishop Fisher and Bishop Mary Ann Swenson (California-Pacific Annual Conference) will partner with youth from their conferences to search
and explore the Bible. They will point to God’s work in the lives of youth and show how the Holy Spirit reveals ways that youth can REACH DEEPER.
Bishop Fisher is the first African American
Woman to be elected to the episcopacy (in July 200) from the Northeastern Jurisdiction. From 1994 to July 2000, she served as district superintendent of the Mary McLeod Bethune District; and during her tenure on
the district, she was twice appointed dean of the cabinet.
Bishop Fisher holds two Master's Degrees — one in Education and the other in
Divinity — and a Doctorate in Divinity. She has a large extended family in the Maryland and Delaware area, including her mother and father as well as
sisters and brothers. In 1993, she adopted her son, Marcus.
